Recombinant hirudin

Recombinant hirudin got its name from being first isolated from leeches.Natural hirudin is a single-chain polypeptide, which is composed of 65 amino acid residues and has a relative molecular weight of 6986 Dalton.This product is genetically engineered recombinant hirudin ([leu1-thr2]-63-desulfohirudin, Lepirudin) derived from hirudin HV1, in which 1 is substituted for valine by leucine, 2 by threonine for valine, and 63 by tyrosine without sulfite, but its conformation and biological activity are consistent with that of natural hirudin.
