Description

The recombinant mussel foot protein (rMfp) is innately biodegradable and has wet adhesive properties. Unlike commercial chemical-based glues, rMfp is functional under saline and hydrated environment, a condition similar to wound sections. The rMfp hydrogel is able to stop blood loss without causing inflammation and is degradable under in vitro tests. The applications of rMfp as biomedical adhesives, medical device coating，wound healing，anti-inflammatory，and anti-microbial activity have been thriving in recent years.
